Find Your Calm: Somatic Yoga for Stress, Healing & Nervous System Regulation

This is something I see in so many of my students — we live in a culture that pushes us to go, do, achieve… but rarely gives us space to actually feel and release what’s building up in our bodies. That’s where somatic yoga comes in.

Somatic yoga is a slower, more intentional practice that helps you tune into your body’s sensations, process stored tension, and give your nervous system the reset it’s been craving. It’s less about perfect poses and more about creating space to listen to what your body actually needs.

Why Somatic Yoga Works for Stress and Healing

When we’re stressed, our bodies release cortisol — the “fight or flight” hormone. That’s helpful in short bursts, but chronic stress means cortisol hangs around way longer than it should, leading to anxiety, sleep problems, fatigue, and even physical pain.

Somatic yoga helps by:

  • Regulating your nervous system — moving you out of fight-or-flight and into rest-and-digest

  • Releasing stored tension from muscles and fascia

  • Teaching you to actually feel what’s going on in your body, instead of pushing past it

  • Bringing down cortisol levels naturally through slow, mindful movement and breath

In my classes, I see students go from feeling tight and overwhelmed to walking out grounded, softer, and more connected to themselves. It’s powerful — and it’s something you can start experiencing right from home.
